Volunteer at the Sanctuary
From brushing dogs in the spring, to walking or mushing on the trail, we welcome volunteers to participate in all kinds of ways!
Many of our rescues come to us undersocialized so meeting strangers, who they learn can be friends, is the best way to help them understand there are many nice people in the world who think they are very special.
Simple acts like giving treats, filling houses with straw or brushing encourages contact and allows our dogs to realize that not only are they welcome to receive this attention, but that they deserve to be loved.
If you would like to help out at the Sanctuary experience is not required, though a flexible schedule is a must.
Our dogs come first and their needs vary from requiring constant attention to strict quiet time when we must close off all outside visitation in order to reduce stress.
Due to the fact that we work with so many shy dogs we encourage those with a patient kind heart to apply. Many times it will seem that a dog is not opening up to the time and effort put in but for those who are patient, you will see amazing positive changes in every dog you work with.
With time in the dog yard or out on the trail you are sure to get a real taste of what being a musher is all about. If you are dedicated to the task, and have put in enough hours, you may even walk away an accomplished musher!
If you would like to volunteer your time at the Sanctuary contact us to set up an appointment. Our dogs are waiting to meet you!
