Finding Your Size

Every husky hat is hand made, from the collecting, spinning of the husky fiber to the knitting of the beanie.

Our husky hats have about two to three inches of stretch at the brim of each hat to ensure a nice relaxed stretchy fit. All our measurements are taken INSIDE at the bottom of the hat's circumference lying on a flat surface.

To find your size take a beanie you own, lay it flat, measure with a ruler on the INSIDE of your beanie then times that number by two. This will be your circumference and how we measure our sizes.

If you do not have a beanie of your own find a flexible measuring tape and wrap it around your head in the place where you would like the bottom of your beanie to rest.

A short piece of string will also work. Measure the circumference of your head with the string, mark where it ends, lay it flat on the table and measure with a straight ruler. This will be your total circumference.

To determine your length take a beanie you own, lay it flat the table and measure from the bottom to the peak of your hat. This length determines if your hat will be long enough to rest at your ears or lower for extra warmth.

All our beanies are made to fold up at the brim if your hat ends up being too long. While our hats are not fully reversible, the bottom of all our hats are made with no extra seams and look completely natural with a partial or fully turned brim.

The Husky Hair Process

In the warmth of spring our sled dogs no longer require their insulating uncoat of fur. As it is naturally shed away each dog is brushed and groomed to help release this soft fiber. It is then collected, washed, spun and knit into unique husky items for you to enjoy!

Each husky hair creation is as unique as the husky who donated the fur as the color of their undercoat can vary from year to year. We do not dye our husky fiber but rather let our husky's true colors shine through.

All husky hair items you see here in our store are make from pure 100% husky. We do not mix our fiber with wool, alpaca or any other fiber. Each item remains true to the husky who donated the fiber and comes with a care card identifying which husky donated the fiber!

No part of the husky hair process is outsourced or sent out of state, all work is done here, making this product not only a unique Alaskan made item but a great way to show your support as all proceeds from our gift shop sales go right back to support the Sled Dog Sanctuary.
